| HOW CAN I HELP IF I CAN’T AFFORD TO ADOPT A FAMILY? You can still help. The children and teens can still help. The idea is to get a group of people to join together to adopt one or more families. Ask each person to contribute towards the annual total of $520.00. The group can be formed already or you can build a group. Formed groups are groups that come together already for a specific purpose such as co-workers at your parents’ jobs. Maybe the company can match these co- workers donations so that two or more families can be adopted. You could help your parents ask these co- workers and their bosses by writing a letter to the owners explaining what you are doing and why you would like to adopt a family. In the letter clearly ask for a contribution or ask for the owner/employer to match the employees’ contribution. There are other formed groups such as churches, sports teams, friends who get together often, extended families that include grandparents and cousins, fraternities, book clubs, on-line chat rooms, clubs of all kinds. These are only a few suggestions. You will probably think of many more once you start thinking about who you or your parents already know. This is done by calling as many people as you know who care about you and your goals. Ask each person to contribute towards your goal for adopting one or more families. Then explain to these people that there are a lot of families that need to be adopted right away. Ask these people to do the same thing you are doing. Ask them to build a group by calling every person they know who cares about their goals. Ask these people to contribute also towards adopting another family. The key is to ask everyone to act immediately. You can make this effort more fun for everyone by setting up a challenge to each group with the goal of adopting one or more families within a week.
